Prototype 2 received favorable reviews. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the PC version 86.50% and 81/100, the PlayStation 3 version 79.14% and 79/100 and the Xbox 360 version 75.67% and 74/100. Planet Xbox 360 gave the game a 9 out of 10 rating. They called the game a "wonderful sequel that surpasses the original". At the time of his departure from the show, Community creator Dan Harmon noted that his contract gave him "the same salary and title if I spend all day masturbating and playing Prototype 2. And before you ask yourself what you would do in my situation: buy Prototype 2. It’s fucking great.
